About the VPS catalog and methodology

accsly.io is a catalog of VPS, dedicated server and web hosting plans. We collect plans from the providers' own websites, check them and show them in one search with filters, curated lists, ratings and comparisons. This page explains where the data comes from, how we check it and calculate the ratings, and how to report an error.

What the catalog is

The catalog lists 2,505 hosting providers and 44,358 plans: 29,652 VPS plans, the rest are dedicated servers and web hosting. You can filter plans by country, memory, CPU, disk, payment method and terms; the curated lists, ratings, comparisons and the price index are built from the same data.

We do not sell servers or take payment for them: you order and pay on the provider's website.

Where the data comes from and how we check it

  • The source is the providers' own websites: plan pages, the order form, pages about payment and terms, legal details. Hosting lists on other sites only help us find new providers; we take the plans from the providers' own websites.
  • When checking, we confirm prices in the order form. A “from … per month” line on a pricing page often means paying for a year or longer, so we confirm the monthly price in the cart. The catalog shows the regular price; a promo-code or first-term discount is not passed off as the regular price.
  • When checking, we look at every product line of the provider — VPS, dedicated servers, hosting — in every location. If a page is behind a bot check or does not open, its data counts as unverified.
  • The catalog is rebuilt every hour from our provider records, with prices converted at the Central Bank of Russia rate. The records themselves are re-checked against the providers' websites in batches, almost every day; any differences found are corrected from the provider's website.
  • When one company runs several websites — another domain, a country version, a move — we merge them into one listing, and the old page leads to the one we keep. We merge only when the websites show it: a domain redirect, the same legal entity, the same plans.
  • When a provider's website stops opening, we remove the provider from the catalog until the website works again.

Who we do not list or rank

  • Plans that a provider sells with a promise not to respond to complaints are not included in the catalog.
  • Providers whose main offer is sign-up without identity checks, ignoring complaints or payment in cryptocurrency only stay in the catalog for reference but are not ranked: a place in a rating is a recommendation. There are 36 such providers now.
  • Ratings include only providers with a known legal entity and at least 3 plans in the selection.

How ratings are calculated

Places are calculated by a formula from catalog data only; nobody edits them by hand. The score from 0 to 10 is made of six parts, and their weights depend on the rating: in the cheap VPS rating price weighs more, in the game server rating technology does.

  • Resource price — median price of a «resource unit» (1 GB RAM ≈ ½ core ≈ 50 GB disk) — the cheaper compared with the other rated providers, the higher the score
  • Entry price — the provider's cheapest plan in this selection
  • Reliability — known legal entity, years on the market, SLA of 99.9% or more, published address or registration number
  • Terms — trial period, money-back, hourly billing and convenient payment methods
  • Technology — share of NVMe plans, IPv6, DDoS protection, API and instant setup
  • Choice — how many countries and plans the provider has

Resource price and entry price are scored against the other providers of the same rating. A feature we have no data on (hourly billing, IPv6, DDoS protection, year founded) gets half the points: a gap in our data should not push a provider below one that plainly says “no”. Ratings are recalculated together with the catalog.

Independence and links to providers

  • A place in the ratings cannot be bought: the formula has no payments or affiliate programs in it — only prices, terms and specs from the providers' websites. Whether a provider has an affiliate program does not affect its place.
  • A provider's page in the catalog is free. The badge for the provider's website is free too, and it does not affect the place in the ratings. Badge for your site
  • The “Visit site” and “Go to plan” buttons lead to the provider's website through our click counter and add the tag utm_source=accsly, so the provider can see where the visitor came from. These links currently carry no affiliate or referral codes. If the order button on the provider's website already contains its own promo code, the link leads to it as is.
  • The advertising banner under the site header is not connected with the catalog: it affects neither the plan lists nor the ratings.

Found an error?

If a price, plan or term in the catalog differs from the provider's website, message us on Telegram @accsly or at catalog@accsly.io: send the link to the catalog page and what is wrong.

We will check the data against the provider's website and correct the record; the fix appears in the catalog with the next build. Providers can write to us the same way — but we still take the data from their website, so the most reliable fix is to update the details on your own site.
